Rotary Indonesia Sets MURI Record in Nationwide World Polio Day 2025 Campaign

TANGERANG, RadarJakarta.idRotary Indonesia once again carved its name in the nation’s public health history. To commemorate World Polio Day 2025, thousands of participants from across Indonesia united under the banner “One Day One Focus: Ending Polio” a nationwide event held simultaneously at Supermal Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, and Awanncosta, Semarang, on Sunday (October 26, 2025).

The large-scale humanitarian campaign, initiated by Rotary Districts 3410 and 3420, earned recognition from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the largest simultaneous polio awareness event ever held in the country. The occasion drew the attendance of prominent figures, including Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, Tangerang Regent Meisal Rasyid, and senior Rotary Indonesia leaders underscoring the synergy between global civic organizations and local governments in advancing public health.

District Governor of Rotary 3410, Ir. Sanny Suharli, expressed gratitude to the main sponsor, the HuaQiou Foundation (Hong Kong), for its significant financial support in making the record-breaking event possible. She also extended appreciation to Wings Group, Professtama Group, and other partners for their ongoing commitment to Rotary’s humanitarian initiatives.

The HuaQiou Foundation’s involvement in supporting the 3410 district event, namely the celebration of WORLD POLIO DAY END OF POLIO NOW, is thanks to the services of PDG EVA KURNIATI, who has extensive relations in Rotary International and also Rotary D3410. “Rotary is not just an organization it is a global movement that transforms lives,” said Suharli. “Our commitment is clear: no Indonesian child should ever again suffer paralysis caused by polio.”

Echoing the sentiment, Dr. Dyah Angraini, District Governor of Rotary 3420, highlighted the unity of purpose that defines Rotary’s mission nationwide.

“This event is a symbol of solidarity among all Rotary members in Indonesia. We aim to raise awareness on the importance of immunization and to ensure every child is protected from preventable diseases,” he said.

The day-long celebration featured a fun walk, symbolic polio vaccine drops, a children’s coloring competition, and performances by young cancer survivors, filling the venues with color and optimism. The excitement peaked when organizers announced the official MURI recognition, celebrating Rotary’s unwavering dedication to global health causes.

As a gesture of appreciation, Rotary Indonesia also distributed numerous door prizes, including two 1g ANTAM gold bars, bicycles, electric ovens, travel suitcases, and hotel vouchers, bringing joy and camaraderie among participants.
